Heathrow Airport required a rapidly delivered accommodation facility to support staff operating its Rapid Goods Screening (RGS) operations near Terminal 4. ACS Modular provided a fast-track modular solution, manufactured off-site and installed within an existing warehouse, enabling fully operational workspace and welfare facilities to be delivered within an exceptionally tight programme.

ACS Modular was commissioned to provide a new accommodation facility for staff operating Heathrow’s Rapid Goods Screening (RGS) operations near Terminal 4.
The facility was required to be designed, manufactured and installed within an existing warehouse environment within an extremely tight programme.
The Challenge
The project required a fully operational accommodation facility to be delivered and occupied within five weeks from initial enquiry.
Key challenges included:
- Extremely compressed programme
- Installation within the existing CLC warehouse
- Coordination across multiple stakeholders
- Requirement for fully operational facilities upon handover
The ACS Solution
ACS rapidly mobilised its modular manufacturing capability, producing 24 modular units in partnership with manufacturing partners.
The facility included:
- Offices and operational workspaces
- Kitchen facilities
- Toilets including disabled access
- Shower facilities
- Internal walling and services pre-installed off-site
The Delivery
The modular units were manufactured and delivered within two weeks, allowing rapid installation within the warehouse environment. Minimal on-site work was required, as the units arrived fully fitted out with only external service connections required.
Outcome
The project successfully delivered a fully operational facility within the aggressive programme.
